The Academic Decathlon is a ten-event scholastic competition with nine-member high school teams from throughout the county. This year’s theme is World War II. Students complete seven written tests in the areas of science, literature, art, music, mathematics, economics and social science. They also write an essay, give both a prepared and impromptu speech and are interviewed. The culminating event is the Super Quiz competition. The winning team from San Diego County goes on to the California State competition whose winner goes to the National Competition. Top scoring students and teams receive medals in all categories tested. The dates for the Academic Decathlon events follow:

Team Registration

Team registration fee of $355 covers the cost of all materials and awards.

Speech, Interview, Essay

Essay, speech and interview competitions – all students complete essay in multi-purpose room. Speech and interview judges will be trained during the essay. Interview and speeches after essay in various classrooms.
